Progress in Music

I recently made the decision to begin the process of deleting from my music library music that I don't actually own (yes, even the stuff from the library). I started on Thursday night, and as of Friday, I have deleted over 1,000 songs. And that was just the stuff I never really listened to in the first place! The next step is to go through what I do listen to and decide if it's worth buying. Yikes!

Cat

First, nobody freak out. And second, Dad, this was so not my idea. Our apartment now has a kitten (I wanted a pitbull, but was sadly out-voted). She is a black tabby between 13 and 14 weeks old. Her name is Ismene and we call her Izzy for short (when trying to persuade me into agreeing to this, they said I could name her something from Greek or Roman mythology, and I held them to it). We've had her for about two days and already my hands, and my legs to a lesser extent, are covered in scratches. We also had cleaning checks on Saturday (the day after we got her) so she and I spent some time at Heritage meeting Becca and then took a nap in my car in the Marriott Center parking lot. Below is a picture of our nap from Saturday and her and me at Petco the night we got her.

New Place

This morning, I slept through my alarm, as per the usual daily routine, got ready, and picked up the key to my new apartment. From the hour I've spent in it before having to go to work, I LOVE IT!!! When we first took a tour of an apartment, the furniture was as great as to be expected - aka, it was outdated, worn down, but functional. In the apartment we were actually put into, the furniture is wonderful! Not to mention, knowing all of your roommates makes planning the organization of common areas much easier (like the pantry - yeah, I have a pantry!). I'm probably about half way moved in. Tomorrow I'm going to try to get the rest of my kitchen stuff in as well as extra clothes I wont be needing in the next 5 days. Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement with everyone!

Raining Ice and Dogs

So, my most recent escapades have been a blast! If you've talked to me at all when I've been away from home know that I miss my dog. Many of you don't agree, as evidenced as your lack of having a dog for your kids yet, but I just love dogs. To me, they're therapeutic - dogs love you no matter what. So, last Monday three people I work with and I went up to the Humane Society of Utah. We played with dogs for about two hours before having to head back down to Provo. It was so great!

We also had FHE that night. We went ice blocking - the first time for me since about my sophomore year in high school. Like most of our FHE activities, it was tons of fun. I've got some beautiful bruises on my elbow that Mom and Tina can attest to. And you all know me, I love me some bruises!

It's Been a Long Time

So, clearly it's been a while since I've posted. Whether that has more to do with the lack of post-worthy events in my life or the lack of time, I'll let you decide. But, lately I've been having so much fun that I have to let you all know!

Near the beginning of my summer job, a bunch of us went down to play volleyball. The sand is Helaman is way better than here in Heritage. We played for about two hours before we had to be back to work. It snowed on us at least four times. It was pretty cold, but maybe the most fun I've had playing in a long time. It was great. I was really sore, which I found a little strange as I've been playing in various leagues with Kristi for months. We went again tonight and played for 3 and 3/4 hours in gloriously sunny weather! One of the guys I work with, Adam, is friends with Danny, who I used to work with, and they bring a bunch of guys. So, I've made so new friends and had an awesome time!

Speaking of volleyball, I've remember something I didn't even think to mention when I started. Kristi and I have been playing volleyball with the ladies we met last year. We played in the Springville league, which didn't end very well (I believe, and Kristi may agree, that it was mostly my fault since I really just wanted to leave to see my parents and my dog and the fastest way to do was to lose. Not that I intentionally threw the games or anything, but still.). Consequently, we decided to sign up for the Mapleton one. This past Thursday was our final rounds of tournament play. We won our fist game and had a blast doing so. The second game, we psyched ourselves out in the first match, won the second, than won the third. I had somewhere to be and told my team I'd have to go, at which point they kinda freaked out (any change can throw a team off their game) so I made arrangements to stay. The team we beat in three hadn't had a loss yet, so we had to beat them again to win our division. We played a sudden death match to 35 and totally annihilated them! We got trophies with miniature volleyballs on a pedestal. Yes, the ball comes off, which makes it infinitely more cool. So, yea for our team!

Getting back to awesome things I've been up to, the previously mention Adam has a paintball gun. I have a already banged up car that I'm going to be replacing in the somewhat near future. What does this mean? Valentino (that's my car) got a little messy. We drove to a church with a large parking lot (apparently the cops don't have jurisdiction on church property, which was great for our purposes) and loaded up. I got to take the first shot. At first, we avoided the windows, but we soon discovered they weren't in danger of being broken and so we went all out. Unfortunately, we ran our of CO2 before we finished evenly coating my car. And, just a we did, it started to rain. So, there wasn't much left of Valentino's paint job. But, a few days ago, Adam and I refilled the tanks, grabbed Harrison and Jackie (also people we work with), returned to our favorite parking lot, and started again. With no rain to get rid of the evidence, I drove around for a few days with a gross looking car. They sun bleached the paint left from the paint balls, so it was just patches of a nasty looking white residue all over my car. They morning after, we were leaving breakfast when a guy walked by and said, "Wow. Someone really hates you." I decided not to inform him that I was in fact the perpetrator. I finally got most of it off when I filled up with gas yesterday afternoon, emphasis on most. I'm pretty sure it'll take more than the little sponge at the gas station.

Ok, by now I'm sure you're sick of hearing out my random and perhaps irresponsible activities, but I've got two more to mention. On Thursday night, Harrison, Jackie, Brittany, Adam, and I went to a 12:11 showing of Iron Man 2. While waiting in line, three of us played ninja, a game which probably made us look ridiculous, but was actually a ton of fun. In fact, before we started work, some of us played it in the Heritage Central Building lobby. Some of the Hall Advisers even jumped in! Ok, second thing: yesterday, Harrison, Adam, Jackie, and I played four square. It's been a long time, and I think I may have even posted about it last time I played, but it's just such a fun, nostalgic game.

All right, I think I'm done for now. Basically, we're barely into the summer, and I'm already having a blast. Our group is just as awesome as last year! I'll try to keep you more updated so I don't have to write another crazy long post!
